Having lunch on board the Pride of Calais
The "Welcome to Dover" sign had barely rolled past when we were greeted by the famous white cliffs of Dover, rising behind and beyond a row of cheery hotels. Seagulls circled overhead, blending in with the cliffs.
The coach drew to a stop and we clambered out and into the departure centre to wait for another one hour and fifteen minutes.

Finally 12.15 p.m. arrived and we could board the large ferry.

First we headed up to the deck at the stern, where we took pictures in the strong wind.

Then we went in search of a viewing point at the front of the ferry, which led us past shops and game arcades and into a big lounge, where we waited for the ferry to leave.
As the white cliffs gradually shrank against the horizon, it was time for some lunch in the food court.
