170km from Paris
Bonjour! Nous sommes en la France! (Hello! We are in France!)The moment we crossed the Swiss border (again) everything seemed brighter and more cheerful.
Then I realised the rain had stopped.
Unfortunately the good weather didn't last (as usual), so for the next few hours it drizzled on and off as we passed by fields and cows and fields and cows and...fields and cows.
However, our lunch stop was rather exciting, since the menus were in French and French is exciting!
After lunch we continued on the highway past more fields, so nobody missed the scenery when we drew all the curtains and settled back to watch The Man in the Iron Mask.
When the film ended and we pulled back the marmalade-coloured curtains again, guess what we saw?
MORE FIELDS!!!
But thankfully we were due for another rest stop, and when we got on again we were only 170km from Paris.
